The Dickinson-Iron Career and Technical Education Center has revamped its school store. After 40 years, the former “Volk Village” is now new and improved, and it held it’s reopening on Friday.

With the help of a grant, the student-run school store is now called “The Marketplace,” with a new layout and new products, all designed by the Dickinson-Iron Career and Tech Center’s marketing class.

As an elective, high school students from many counties in the area come to the Career and Tech Center for a couple hours each day for classroom and hands-on experience.

“Having the store is a great opportunity for kids because at your home schools you don't get taught things you really need in the work force,” said Ross Okler, Manager of The Marketplace. “I know personally for me, the store has taught me just how to interact with people, you know having the ability to answer somebody's questions thoroughly and professionally is something that you'll need when you go to work.”

As part of the grand reopening, The Marketplace had specials, promotions and raffles for students.
